Robert L. Weinberg, Ph.D

Principal, Weinberg Consulting

Robert’s diverse background gives him a unique ability to clearly understand both the business of science, and the science of leadership. After 10 years working as a scientist, including earning his doctorate in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Robert realized that he had a greater passion about the nature of people and organizations. He has spent over 20 years since applying his thinking and training to understanding the best practices of leaders and organizations and sharing these with hundreds of executives and teams across a broad range of industries.

Robert’s work is also informed by his own entrepreneurial experience. While still in graduate school he co-founded and ran his own business, which was later sold to a larger company. Gifted with an ability to help others produce results far beyond what would be predictable, Robert has the insight to see clearly into complex situations and help leaders distill simple, actionable solutions. His clients have included tech entrepreneurs to CEOs of large organizations. He is a valued presenter on leadership development at organizations such as The Bay Area OD Network (BAODN), The CIO RoundTable, and for The Brown University Alumni Mentoring Program.

Having learned hundreds of valuable models and tools for clients, Robert takes a pragmatic approach, selecting those that will produce the most direct impact for each client. Clients increase their self-awareness and communication, trust and collaboration with their teams. Additional methods are designed to enhance strategic thinking capabilities and create cultures of innovation.

Robert has a B.A. in Biology from Brown University, and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry from UC Berkeley. In addition to many years of individual developmental work and practical experience he is certified as a practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. He is one of fewer than 100 people certified as a "Nine Domains" Facilitator by the Enneagram Institute and is certified in “Coaching with the Enneagram” by The Enneagram in Business Institute. Robert is also certified to deliver strategic thinking and innovation programs, such as “OutThinker”.

Robert is passionate about community. He is active in local service projects and has served as Board President for a major San Francisco not-for-profit. He serves as Treasurer for the San Francisco Center for Spiritual Living and has been Chairperson of the Brown University Mentoring Program in San Francisco. He lives in San Francisco with his wife, Rita Hovakimian.
